Have Your Batteries Checked!
You might not know it, but your alarm system has a battery in it, even if it's not a wireless system! All security systems have what is called a standby or backup battery. For several hours, this battery can supply power to the system when power in the building is out.
Your backup battery should be changed every 3-5 years. Changing your battery out at specified intervals helps to ensure that when your power is out your system can continue to work in the event of a break-in.
If your system is wireless, you have a standby battery, and batteries in your transmitters. Transmitters vary and require different battery replacement times. Most transmitter batteries will last at least a year and in some cases up to 6 or 7 years.
If you’re not sure about the status of your battery or batteries, call us and we’ll recommend the best time to replace yours.
